I'm going to speak to you about a great chilean thinker, who recently passed away, Claudio Naranjo:
He was a chilean psychiatrist of Universidad de Chile, doctor honoris at Udine University, teacher at Harvard, writer, transpersonal psychologist specialist and pioneer in gestalt's psychology, among other things.
He was born in Valparaíso in 1932, studied medicine at Universidad de Chile and He became a doctor in 1959. He was hired for the University for be part of Centro de Estudios de Antropología Médica (CEAM) after that He travelled to USA to study about perceptual learning at Ohio Sate University, next to that He started a scholarship at Harvard University and later He went to the Illinois University where He learned factor analysis from Raymond Cattell, finally went to the University of California in Berkley where He worked as associated researcher at Institute of Personality Assessment and Research (IPAR) and return to Chile in 1967. In 1969 He was named assesor at the Stanford Research Institute. After a bit period working at the Centro de Estudios de Antropología Médica of the Universidad de Chile then He return to Berkley like a migrant, afterwards He converted in a sucessor of Fritz Perls. In 1970 He lost his only son he had u.u and after that He retired to Arica desert for meditate, at the end of 1970 He started to teach to a group what later turn into The Intituto SAT.
In 2007 was named Doctor Honoris at the Udinese University and that same year was open the Fundación Claudio Naranjo in Barcelona. In 2017 and 2018 He was invited to take part of Congreso del Futuro in Chile, where He said so many interesting things about education.
He was a wise, very clever, unfortunately little known here in Chile, If I would had the chance to ask him a question I think it would have been: How We Can fix the actual society problems?.
Anyway I think that there should be more people like him, and the world would be a better place.
So sad a Genius like him passed away!
